Even the city known as the black gold of the Moslavina region due to its oil sources has recognized the importance of increasing the energy from renewable sources in its energy mix. The City of Ivanić-Grad installed the first solar PV system on a public building in 2021 and is preparing to install an additional 11 solar PV systems through the Good Energy – Solar Energy for Energy Transition (SEET).
On March 30 and 31, the City of Ivanić-Grad enabled a new opportunity for an in-person gathering of partners of the Good Energy – SEET project: the Region of Istria, the Istrian Regional Energy Agency (IRENA), the Green Energy Cooperative (ZEZ), the City of Cres, the City of Čakovec, the City of Poreč, the City of Pula, the City of Zaprešić, and bilateral partners Greenstat and Seed Forum Global. Dražen Hlad, head of the administrative department for the communal economy, spatial planning, economy and agriculture of the City of Ivanić-Grad greeted the visitors on that occasion.
The project meeting took place to analyze implementation of project activities and installation of the targeted 22 solar PV systems. It was concluded that the implementation is progressing successfully – the first installations of solar PV systems are anticipated in Zaprešić and Čakovec during spring 2023.
While awaiting the first installations, partners learned about the experience of realization of the first solar PV system in Ivanić-Grad, that of the Ivanić-Grad Polytechnic. The solar PV system with an installed capacity of 20.4 kWp was put into operation at the beginning of 2022 and now meets the Polytechnic’s total needs for electricity. The Good Energy – SEET will contribute installing new solar capacities in Ivanić-Grad at the facilities of Tratinčica, Vjeverica, Livada and Suncokret kindergartens, Modular Wood Technology Business Incubator, Communal Center and the Public Fire Department, Alojz Vulinec Memorial Home, Posavski Bregi Community Center, and Bowling alley and Changing rooms of the Zelenjak Sports Park. The total installed power will be 148 kWp.
The Good Energy – Solar Energy for Energy Transition project benefits from a €1.1 million grant from Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway through the European Economic Area (EEA) Financial Mechanism 2014-2021, along with the national financial support from the Republic of Croatia within the Energy and Climate Change Program. The total value of the project is EUR 1.4 million.
