As part of the “Good Energy – Solar Energy for Energy Transition” project and the “Sol4All – Community-Led Solarization” project, and in cooperation with the Region of Istria, the Istrian Regional Energy Agency – IRENA and the Green Energy Cooperative (ZEZ), informative lectures “Solar PV plants: from knowledge to job in the energy transition“, about the occupation of solar PV plant installers for future and existing installers and other technical professionals in the Region of Istria, were held in March.

The first part of the lecture took place in Labin, and was intended for students of secondary vocational schools from the area of Region of Istria, including the Industrial and Crafts School of Pula, the Technical School of Pula, the Economic School of Buje, the Juraj Dobrila Gymnasium and Vocational School in Pazin, and the Mate Blažina Labin Secondary School .

Erica Svetec from the Green Energy Cooperative presented to the students in an interactive way, using digital tools, the perspective of the development of solar technologies and the basic components of a solar grid power plants, as well as what occupations and jobs are associated with the development and installation of solar PV plants. At the same time, the students had the opportunity to hear first-hand what a working day of a solar PV plant installer looks like from the owner of the company PaxPro d.o.o. Luka Barišić. Luka Barišić explained what knowledge a solar PV plant installer must have and what the advantages and challenges of this profession are.

This was also an opportunity for the students to go through the Geothermal Park and see how the geothermal heat pump system works under the guidance of Dalibor Jovanović, expert associate of the Istrian Regional Energy Agency – IRENA.

At the same time, the students were invited to complete “Solar Literacy”, a free digital course on solar energy of the Green Energy Cooperative, while a certificate for successfully attending this course was presented to professors Robert Zornada and Josip Civarić from the Buje Economic School.

After a successful lecture for high school students in Labin, a lecture was held in Pula on the same day with a focus on electrical and electrotechnical professionals who already work in that area.

In the full hall of the Association of Craftsmen, the lecture was opened by the Acting Head of the Administrative Department for the Economy of the Region of Istria, Elena Božac Čujić.

Through the lecture of Svibor Jančić from the Green Energy Cooperative, this was an opportunity to learn more about the operation of grid solar PV plants, the requirements for performing the work of installing solar PV plants, and the conditions that need to be met in order to obtain a PV power plant installer certificate. In the second part, an expert representative from HEP Proizvodnja d.o.o. presented how solar PV plants can be used to produce green hydrogen. At the same time, everyone was invited to deepen their knowledge of renewable energy sources and to learn more about solar grid power plants, which are slowly becoming an integral part of every household, through the Solar Literacy course.

The lectures held are the first part of a series of lectures on the topic of jobs in the energy transition intended to increase capacity for energy production from renewable sources in Croatia as part of the “Good Energy – Solar Energy for Energy Transition” project. Follow the next opportunities on the project website.

The project “Good Energy – Solar Energy for the Energy Transition” is financed by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway through the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area (EEA) 2014-2021 with the national co-financing of the Republic of Croatia in the amount of EUR 1.1 million in grants under the “Energy and Climate Change” Program. The total value of the project is EUR 1.4 million.

The project “Sol4All – Community-Led Solarization” is implemented by the Green Energy Cooperative with the support of Google.org.
